Uncle Willis and Aunt Hazel:

What fun I would have as a child going over to Uncle Willis's house. There was always laughter and plenty of cousins to play with all the time. My memories are mostly of Patsy, Richard and Clayton - I guess that is be cause we are the "old ones" - Clayton use to tease me almost all the time - Richard was much more serious. Patsy was like having the sister I never had. I am so glad to have these warm memories.

Do you ever remember Geraldine and Sharon Kay coming up to play also, or did you spend time with them at their house?

I do remember them coming up once and while - but I usually didn't get to spend too much time with them. I think I was too tomboy for them - their pictures will come up soon - Win

I can't wait to see those pictures. Floyd's girls came up sometimes but not to often. They always had frilly clothes and nice things and we were so poor. But we certainly out numbered them and I am sure we were really mean to them. I imagine they would have liked to have played with us more than we wanted to play with them. There were always so many of we really didn't need more kids to play with. I remember going into Sharon Kays room once when I must have been about 6 she had dolls hung all over one wall. Many of them were in plastic. I was so impressed. She did let me play with one I remember. I was so much younger than they were but I never remember them being mean to me. I think Clayton really tormented them. He always was the rotten brother, he just seems nice... As I remember Clayton peed in front of them once on purpose! I think Lovetta about died.

Win, actually and truthfully, Shorty Kay and Jerl Dean wanted to
Lord over us just a little. They had more than we did and they did want to flaunt it just a little. We could not be outdone. We all excelled in school...learning came
easy for us. Shorty had a little trouble in school. I am sorry that we were such little devils that Lovetta would just as soon we stay up the hill.

Fleta and I did go down some. We were scared to death of the dog Jackie. He growled like he would eat you alive. But I am sure he was all bark.

Lovetta could make the best things...like home made ice cream. She was very sweet to us. When we needed her like the time Helen swallowed the fox tail and turned blue...Clayton ran for her because she had a car...and of course she came. She and Mom talked very often when they were old and I know they enjoyed each other.

Lovetta was a champion for Uncle Floyd. She loved and cared for him and I know he loved her completely.
I wish I could go back and get to know Lovetta and Floyd better, but it is too late...I really never really knew them. I am sorry for it too.

Lovetta had a very sad life. Floyd saved her and in return she saved him!

Once again this was a place that neither my Mom or Aunt Winnie felt comfortable. After they were in town, Lovetta was just as likely not to let us in - Uncle Floyd still continued to tease me even after I was married - I would always be "half-pint" to him. I remember sitting by his bedside for many hours when he had that first heart attack.
