I remember maybe in the late 60's or so Thelma came down to visit Daddy a few times and Max and Mike were teenagers and came with her. We really never knew Aunt Thelma until she retired back here then she came to visit often...Going to Daddy's and Truman’s in the same. Often eating lunch with one and supper with the other. Our Aunt Thelma was our rock when daddy found out he had cancer. She was so smart and had all of the answers for us. We all got along with her just fine and she was even good to Mama. She probably felt sorry for Mama having to live with such an overbearing man all of those years, Thelma would never had stood for that! I know at times we all lost patience with Mama but I do not ever remember Thelma ever saying anything negative to or about her. And Mama and Thelma defiantly lived on different sides of the world, so to speak. They were complete opposites!! She was a good ole Thelma! I miss her daily.
I have a recipe for her walnut cookies...remember those..she always wanted black walnuts to crack so she could make them. Truman and Daddy and brother Richard made sure she had all she wanted!
