Yes, Clayton and Virginia Lee were in the class and I believe it was
1962. I can remember him milking
the cows in the new barn and the radio was playing "the lions sleep tonight". I still love the song and when I hear it ...I think of clayton. I was in the 6th grade when he graduated. i went to Jr. high the next year. Jr. high and High school were seperate so Fleta did not have to put up with me. I went to High school after she graduated.

Even tho there were only 2 and a half years between Fleta and i she graduated 3 years ahead of me. Momma sent her to school with Shorty Kay Powell. I bet she just wanted to get rid of her. She was only 5 when she started 1st grade and did not turn 6 until the year was almost half over. She said they would send her in a little outfit that I think was once Winnie's and it had suspenders and she could not undo it so if she had to wear that she peed in her pants. Poor Sister. Winnie it is your fault because I think that outfit came from you!!!

It is a little plaid outfit and she had a picture made in it.

Lovetta registered me in school. She always took Jerl Dean and Shorty Kay and so she took me. My teacher was Mrs. Atchley...Bessie.
She was kin to Loveta..I now know.
I can remember little bits and pieces about the day. I think Daddy took Helen and registered her. That is when he had the argument over the small pox shot.

Flet was so anxious to start school and they made a law that year that you had to be 6 by the first of January to go, Lovetta was delighted and told me fleta couldn't start that year but sharon could sooooo i enrolled fleta and put down her birthday jan 4, 1947 so fleta got to go, they didn't ask for a birth cert. in that day and time so fleta got to go like she wanted and always did well.i think the picture of clayton was a year or so after daddy got out we kept his navy stuff, there is a picture of me some where wearing his white navy pants and pea coat when there was snow on the ground i have a red head scarf tied around my head that aunt winnie brought me from St. louis. we were a rag a muffin bunch in those years. i guess we were always rag a muffins kids all of us until the later years.doesn't hurt us now, when we get something we are proud of it.

I know what we have is important...but who we are is more
so important. All of us have a strong sense of who we are. I am proud of my Sisters and Brothers
each is special and a great gift to me from my parents.
