After Mom and Dad moved down to Florida, they had a ball. There were several couples their age and Winnie was down most of the time. They would go to the beach, ride the motorcycle, and just generally have a wonderful time. So for a couple that didn't get to have a honeymoon, this was the closest thing to paradise for them.
Then the War broke out and it was a scary place to be, they knew all the time that there were Japanese subs just off the coast ~Dad was in the Air National Guard. Once Mom found out that she was pregnant with me, they decided that they had better head back to St.Louis. Monocoupe was closing up shop, but it did give the workers a chance to work then for McDonnell Aircraft in St.Louis. Winn was already back in St.Louis and Aunt Thelma had helped her pay for Beauty School and she had an apartment and worked in a shop with her lifelong friend Becky.
