My Passion:

Just thought I would let you all know that I am headed for the camper at Bennett Springs with my daughter and grandson Sam. They are having their annual "Hillbilly Days", suppose to be many crafters and some fun - catch you all on the other side. I am working on my draft to honor my Dad on Sunday.

Well, Winnie, I have been looking for your father on the 1920 and 1930 census with absolutely no luck. What was your grandfather's name?

Win, please come home from your
trip...we really miss you.

Yes, who was Harold's father and where in Mo. would be look in 1910 and 1920 and 1930? You know we do
love a mystery.

Never mind, Winn, we found your dad, 1920, 1930 and his mom and dad in 1910. Betty thinks she has found your grandmother in 1900, but not much else.

I wanted to introduce myself to all of you chatting about Winnie's great blog. I am Jim's oldest daughter, Lisa, and I am enjoying Winnie's pictures so much. Many of them I have never seen before.
Thanks Jo-Bob!
Why did people call my grandmother "Bill"?

Dad's father's name was Arnold Merk and dad was born October 8, 1916 in West Plains, Missouri. Grandpa Merk lived in West Plains until his death Nov.18, 1957. Dad's brother Charles was born Nov.1, 1910 and died April 3, 1928 in West Plains, MO. Grandpa may have been listed as Arnold Merk Jr.
Grandma died March 16, 1976. When you google dad's name - the divorce decree comes up - but that is as far as I go. Dad's father's family is traced all the way back.

Welcome Lisa - I have no idea why they called Winn "Bill", but that is a nickname she had in High School - I was shocked when I saw that your greatgrandfather told me in the the letter to say "hi" to my aunt "Bill"

He said "uncle Bill" which was even funnier! She was always such a Tom boy as daddy put it. I don't know more about the 'Bill' than that...Old Sister may..
