Sam is attending a week long Autistic camp and this is a picture of him when Cindy dropped him off today.  This is a big adventure to stay away without a parent attending. I just know it will be an awesome experience for him.❤

I always have my eyes out for snakes....I hate the water moccasins in the water when I fly fish!!

Making My Famous Jello Salad

Putting my cane aside for a few minutes...I made my famous Jello salad for a cookout tomorrow.  I'm one lucky gal to have to gorgeous aprons to wear during the process.  Also...I have my MRI for my knee scheduled for 6/25...X-rays show knee is alright...just have to see now if it is the meniscus on the outside of the knee...not too much pain 

Home Again

We had a great time and worked hard around the outside. I fished one day ...then a lot of folk came in.  Tweaked my knee pretty good.. Have an appointment with Mike's orthopedic Dr on Thurs..I feel real old using a cane!

For Fleta...she is the middle daughter in the Gwaltney line...she is between May and July.

This morning is Food Pantry and then Mike will cook the Hot Dogs at noon and I will read to the kiddos between 12:30 and one. 

I plan is to get around this afternoon and head out in the morning...I'm sur the fish are calling😀

June Gwaltney Reunion

Susie's niece posted this picture from their June family reunion...I told Sue that this is the first time I thought she looked like her Mom.  It sounds like they had a fantastic time and their family group is growing each year!

I kind of accomplished taking a picture of myself...wrinkles and all.  I am so excited to not be wearing glasses.  Everything is brighter and I see more bright colors.  Now if the rain would ever stop...we put off going to the camper for a week...the report is that the water is really high...no fun fishing!

School is out!

Sam and Tanner spent the afternoon and night...Sam is now in 7th and Tanner is now in 6th!   mike took them swimming yesterday afternoon...then CIndy and Kris came over and we ordered pizza.  When we order pizza we can also get a free movie rental..They picked Hotel Transylvania..it was funny!

Sam had to say good-bye to his Resource Teacher because she is moving to Florida...he has been with her since 3rd Grade...he is now full inclusion in regular classroom...what a blessing!

One WeeK Out

Went to eye Dr this Morning and vision is 20/20 in both eyes.  It is really awesome not to have to wear glasses....yep, that be good!

Rainy Start

We sure are having a rainy start to the holiday...Mike will be home soon from aerobic swim class 7-8 AM.  Cindy and her family are coming over for a cookout...nothing fancy, just hamburgers on the grill...sure wish we could have good ole' Arkansas tomatoes( I know I am wishing too early).  Helen's radishes also sound good.

Rain...thunder and lightening should go away soon.  Thinking of all my brave Uncles that served in World War II and my Dad for building the military planes...They all left us too soon❤

Iris, Iris and more Iris

We had an awesome time on a day trip to see an Iris Farm.  OMG was it a beautiful sight and an opportunity to just enjoy the beauty of God's creations.  I just may order some to be delivered in July so I can have some of this beauty in my yard!

Dr. follow up went well...she said this one was even thicker than the one two weeks ago....my cornea is still swollen, but it will be better by the weekend.  This evening Mike is teaching the two younger boys to mow...he said it would be a fun time.  Obviously, he thinks some things are more fun than I do.

I forgot to mention that today is Susie's ...sure wish we lived closer....Love her so much❤

2nd Cataract Surgery

Second surgery seems to have gone well.big patch comes off at 11:00... No pain, so all should be well.  Dear friend was hunkered down...she is a Professor at OU.  She says the devastation is unbelievable.  Do you cousins remember if we have family still in Moore?..I remember traveling there with Mom to see Aunt Oma and her family.  We met Grandma Powell there and Mom and I traveled on a greyhound bus to meet her in Moore Oklahoma...I was pretty young, but I do really have some found memories of good times.

Little neighbors

We helped

celebrate with our new neighbors yesterday...Their oldest turned 2 and his Lille sister was born on Halloween day last year.  They are so precious and we feel so blessed to have these new neighbors.  They are a blessing to us.

The picture of Mike and the balloons show you a view of our yard in back of him.  Really shows you why Mike put in connecting steps and the retaining wall.  The people that use to live here were good friends of ours...then they moved to Arizona.  Then... a crabby old couple moved in....but now we have new, young awesome neighbors❤

Yard work

We have a friends grandson that just graduated HS.  He came over to work with Mike on summer projects...thankfully, it wasn't unbearably hot.

Yard Work..

Just finished taking a shower...been weeding since 6:30 this morning.  It has been looking pretty raggedy...I have look back over last several years and I have continually had surgeries in the spring.  this year it has just been eyes and I love the way I can see!  Sam and his Mom are on a big field trip to Omaha's fantastic zoo.  They road a greyhound buss and left at 6:45 this morning and they are suppose to be back around 6:00 this evening.   Cindy posted that they are having a wonderful time.

Planting Day

I don't plant as much as you all do, but I got my Mother's Day flowers planted.  Kind of a headache not to be allowed to bend over because of my cataract surgery.  Final check up will be Wednesday.

Tomorrow I ill try to take some real pictures...I mostly plant geraniums.

The sun is shinning and we have a fin day planned with the boys! First we will go Mother's Day shopping...then going swimming...

Things are some less blurry today...still don't think I will drive until tomorrow.

Home Safe and Sound

It is a good thing that my letters are huge on my iPad....just wanted to let you know I am doing fine and Tylenol seems to take care of pain. It really wasn't too bad and I do not dread my 2nd one on the 21st. It is real strange to be in the house with sunglasses on. Mike will take me in the morning for my follow up.

Can't wait!,,

Tomorrow morning at 6:30 I get my right cataract removed and an implant put in. It has really started to be tough seeing when I drive and I have been seeing rainbows where there are none!

Snow!!!

It is May 2nd and it is snowing great big flakes. You can see that my beautiful red tree is almost in full bloom and it is being snowed on. Also, I am back to wearing winter clothes. Talked to Barb for a long time today...her Lisa and her two grandchildren are flying in to St.Louis tomorrow. She is really excited to see them.

We made it home and we actually drove home in sunshine! My Japanese Maple has started to bloom...makes me so happy!

Finally Camper Time

We head out early to finally open the camper....does it finally mean spring is here to stay????
Had an early morning big time eye appointment...my cataract surgeries are set for the 7th and the 21st. I am really excited to get this accomplished. Mom was about my same age when she had hers done...I remember her first comment was..."I can see like an Eagle!"

Beautiful Prom

Last night was the North Kansas City High Schools Prom. Cindy and the Junior Class were in charge. Really, Cindy has worked on this all school year. I went down to see all the decorations and set up before the students arrived...the prom was just a great success. Lot's of hard work, but no extra pay for all the hours involved...but, she was pleased with the outcome last night.

Long Busy Dayy

I worked at the pantry this morning and then this evening we served a Community dinner at church. We served 150 folks tonight. This is the 5 th month we have served a free community meal to the neighborhood...we do it on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Weather has been gloomy, gray and awful...even cold today!

House Day

I'm doing the Helen thing today.....cleaning my house. Mike is working down at church helping a friend run new wiring in our church kitchen. Tonight we are having friends over for popcorn and a movie. We purchased the "Lincoln" DVD. We actually went to the show and saw this movie when it first came out...which was around election time.
Letter back in envelope and put aside for now...as our daughter said, "here we had tried not to say or even think about the matter for two weeks"....and as Barb said, "I have better things to think about".....so all that he is getting from me right now is so much prayer. This has been turned over to God and that's how I am handling it right now.
All of Mike's family were spared damage from the tornadoes in St.Louis....yeah!

Horrible Storms

I sure hope each of you that are in touch with my blog are safe and sound after last nights storms. I have been able to speak to my friend in N. Little Rock and she said the storm flew over them last night. One of my dear friends in St.Louis spent the night down on her basement.
Thought you might want to know I received a long letter from my cousin...sure was tough reading that. A journey I never thought I would I would know someone would be traveling.

This really started this gray day off with a smile. Today is my PEO day and we are celebrating one of our members being a member for 75 years. PEO is a philanthropic organization that helps young women advance their education and we own Cottey College here in Missouri...I am proud to be a member of this organization❤

Spring Brunch

What an awesome Spring Brunch we had yesterday. However, each year we work this brunch it takes longer to recover. We are still beat this morning. Mike and I are two of the main cooks.

Turkey?..Gobble..Gobble

here is Paxton this morning at Youth Weekend for Turkey Hunt....I'm sure Paul is with him because Paul sent the picture...after all we have priorities. I think we all can praise that Paul is doing well..High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure and a special pill for the heart burn...what a week!

Paul Updte

Talked to Paul this evening and his Dr confirmed what the hospital Dr said...No heart attack,
Colesterol high and blood pressure high.  Two meds and told him a lot of changes to make inhis daily behavior r...wants to see him again in 4 months,
I think he will listen...this was a big wake up call...thanks for your love and concerns
