Little neighbors

We helped

celebrate with our new neighbors yesterday...Their oldest turned 2 and his Lille sister was born on Halloween day last year.  They are so precious and we feel so blessed to have these new neighbors.  They are a blessing to us.

The picture of Mike and the balloons show you a view of our yard in back of him.  Really shows you why Mike put in connecting steps and the retaining wall.  The people that use to live here were good friends of ours...then they moved to Arizona.  Then... a crabby old couple moved in....but now we have new, young awesome neighbors❤

Yard work

We have a friends grandson that just graduated HS.  He came over to work with Mike on summer projects...thankfully, it wasn't unbearably hot.

Yard Work..

Just finished taking a shower...been weeding since 6:30 this morning.  It has been looking pretty raggedy...I have look back over last several years and I have continually had surgeries in the spring.  this year it has just been eyes and I love the way I can see!  Sam and his Mom are on a big field trip to Omaha's fantastic zoo.  They road a greyhound buss and left at 6:45 this morning and they are suppose to be back around 6:00 this evening.   Cindy posted that they are having a wonderful time.

Planting Day

I don't plant as much as you all do, but I got my Mother's Day flowers planted.  Kind of a headache not to be allowed to bend over because of my cataract surgery.  Final check up will be Wednesday.

Tomorrow I ill try to take some real pictures...I mostly plant geraniums.

The sun is shinning and we have a fin day planned with the boys! First we will go Mother's Day shopping...then going swimming...

Things are some less blurry today...still don't think I will drive until tomorrow.

Home Safe and Sound

It is a good thing that my letters are huge on my iPad....just wanted to let you know I am doing fine and Tylenol seems to take care of pain. It really wasn't too bad and I do not dread my 2nd one on the 21st. It is real strange to be in the house with sunglasses on. Mike will take me in the morning for my follow up.

Can't wait!,,

Tomorrow morning at 6:30 I get my right cataract removed and an implant put in. It has really started to be tough seeing when I drive and I have been seeing rainbows where there are none!

Snow!!!

It is May 2nd and it is snowing great big flakes. You can see that my beautiful red tree is almost in full bloom and it is being snowed on. Also, I am back to wearing winter clothes. Talked to Barb for a long time today...her Lisa and her two grandchildren are flying in to St.Louis tomorrow. She is really excited to see them.

We made it home and we actually drove home in sunshine! My Japanese Maple has started to bloom...makes me so happy!

Finally Camper Time

We head out early to finally open the camper....does it finally mean spring is here to stay????
Had an early morning big time eye appointment...my cataract surgeries are set for the 7th and the 21st. I am really excited to get this accomplished. Mom was about my same age when she had hers done...I remember her first comment was..."I can see like an Eagle!"
I will be able to read your blogs...really have not be real successful at posting down there...but, will try🎏

Beautiful Prom

Last night was the North Kansas City High Schools Prom. Cindy and the Junior Class were in charge. Really, Cindy has worked on this all school year. I went down to see all the decorations and set up before the students arrived...the prom was just a great success. Lot's of hard work, but no extra pay for all the hours involved...but, she was pleased with the outcome last night.

Long Busy Dayy

I worked at the pantry this morning and then this evening we served a Community dinner at church. We served 150 folks tonight. This is the 5 th month we have served a free community meal to the neighborhood...we do it on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Weather has been gloomy, gray and awful...even cold today!

House Day

I'm doing the Helen thing today.....cleaning my house. Mike is working down at church helping a friend run new wiring in our church kitchen. Tonight we are having friends over for popcorn and a movie. We purchased the "Lincoln" DVD. We actually went to the show and saw this movie when it first came out...which was around election time.
Letter back in envelope and put aside for now...as our daughter said, "here we had tried not to say or even think about the matter for two weeks"....and as Barb said, "I have better things to think about".....so all that he is getting from me right now is so much prayer. This has been turned over to God and that's how I am handling it right now.
All of Mike's family were spared damage from the tornadoes in St.Louis....yeah!

Horrible Storms

I sure hope each of you that are in touch with my blog are safe and sound after last nights storms. I have been able to speak to my friend in N. Little Rock and she said the storm flew over them last night. One of my dear friends in St.Louis spent the night down on her basement.
Thought you might want to know I received a long letter from my cousin...sure was tough reading that. A journey I never thought I would I would know someone would be traveling.

This really started this gray day off with a smile. Today is my PEO day and we are celebrating one of our members being a member for 75 years. PEO is a philanthropic organization that helps young women advance their education and we own Cottey College here in Missouri...I am proud to be a member of this organization❤

Spring Brunch

What an awesome Spring Brunch we had yesterday. However, each year we work this brunch it takes longer to recover. We are still beat this morning. Mike and I are two of the main cooks.

Turkey?..Gobble..Gobble

here is Paxton this morning at Youth Weekend for Turkey Hunt....I'm sure Paul is with him because Paul sent the picture...after all we have priorities. I think we all can praise that Paul is doing well..High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure and a special pill for the heart burn...what a week!

Paul Updte

Talked to Paul this evening and his Dr confirmed what the hospital Dr said...No heart attack,
Colesterol high and blood pressure high.  Two meds and told him a lot of changes to make inhis daily behavior r...wants to see him again in 4 months,
I think he will listen...this was a big wake up call...thanks for your love and concerns

Finally..

Finally I had the opportunity to work in the yard. I worked yesterday and then this morning trying to clean the flower beds. I love our trees...but the fallen leaves are yuck!!!
Paul is doing well and back at work today...he had a follow up visit to his Dr. this morning, but I haven't talked to him yet.

Scary Day!

Spent all day yesterday at the hospital with Paul...he was admitted because they thought he was having a heart attack. All test shows that he did not...but it was a scary day!
This is a picture of Paxton and Paul tonight at McDonalds. Paxton's team worked for several hours to raise money for their baseball team.

Wow..what a heavy snow...we all pitched in and got er' done! Had to share this posting from a friend...really beats all!

It is still slowing and now it is running across the bottom of the TV screen that almost all the churches in the area are closed tomorrow. I guess we were geniuses to call off the Palm Sunday Brunch for in the morning 😃

Snow still coming down heavy!!!

Started Snowing..

Snow started about 30 minutes ago....brrrr is it ever cold. There is a warrant being issued for Phil the Groundhog...everyone is upset that he mispredicted when spring would arrive. I think my et is on July. Surely will not go to Palm Sunday church tomorrow in the heavy snow.

Spring Snow....and more snow

The kids have school today, but it really miserable outside. The poor robins do not know where to hide. Our Sunday School class has had a Palm Sunday Brunch for the church for over 20 years...we had to make a decision yesterday before we bought the eggs and fresh fruit....so at 7:00 AM we decided to reschedule the Brunch until April 7th. They are predicting 6" of snow ending some time after noon on Sunday...we are believing the weatherman. We just ad to believe that the snow would keep the older folks from coming and this is one of our main money makers for the local missions we support.
I am sending along a picture of a cocktail that I think looks darling...if I drank...I might like to try this one ...I have always loved peeps(fresh or stale).

Samuel accomplished 1st class in scouts this last Monday night. We are so proud of all his hard work!

Morning Has Broken....

Each morning that I first open my eyes...I gaze at the wonderful painting of our Grandparents farm!
A warm and thankful feeling immediately comes into my heart...a thankfulness for the strength of family, a thankfulness for the foundation of faith and the integrity foundation that was instilled into my very being.  How do some follow that moral compass and others fail to follow that moral compass?
It is a sweet, sadistic pleasure to know that I will always be allowed to vote for my liberal views and those that have not followed those family values will no longer enjoy that pleasure...just saying❤
I had promised myself I would not write about all these feelings, but I know you are a warm and supportive strength for me and this does help my sad process

Today..

Today I shall count my many blessings...above all I know that God is Great and that I know God's Grace!..Besides my husband, my children and my grandchildren, I am blessed with Sister Cousins that are so full of integrity and love. Thank you for being my extra special blessing❤

Last night we had 2 more inches...but now finally this afternoon things are melting. The kids did not have school again today. I think I have slight cabin fever...but, not too bad. It really has been quite different because we have really had a relatively mild winter. Mike and I will get out tomorrow and run errands...then I have lunch planned with the girls on Friday..whoot, whoot!!!
All together we had about 20"...with more in the drifts

It just keeps coming...about 2" a hour! It is beautiful...but, UNCLE!!!!

It says...meanwhile in Kansas City...I thought this said it all!

By noon tomorrow we are suppose to have another 12"...arghh!!!

More snow a'comin!

Well we were able to go up to St.Jo all day yesterday and watch Paxton at Rookie State...good experience for him. He took 4th and learned so much....wrestling is about getting may experience and learning each time you have an opportunity to wrestle.
We made it to church this morning...streets are clear but snow piles are high at every corner of the church parking lot...some sun today...so hopefully some melts before this next round comes in starting tomorrow....have I mentioned that I am not a snow loving person...Trout season opens next Friday...obviously I 'm not making it to opening day!
