Finally..

Finally I had the opportunity to work in the yard. I worked yesterday and then this morning trying to clean the flower beds. I love our trees...but the fallen leaves are yuck!!!
Paul is doing well and back at work today...he had a follow up visit to his Dr. this morning, but I haven't talked to him yet.

Scary Day!

Spent all day yesterday at the hospital with Paul...he was admitted because they thought he was having a heart attack. All test shows that he did not...but it was a scary day!
This is a picture of Paxton and Paul tonight at McDonalds. Paxton's team worked for several hours to raise money for their baseball team.

It is still slowing and now it is running across the bottom of the TV screen that almost all the churches in the area are closed tomorrow. I guess we were geniuses to call off the Palm Sunday Brunch for in the morning 😃

Started Snowing..

Snow started about 30 minutes ago....brrrr is it ever cold. There is a warrant being issued for Phil the Groundhog...everyone is upset that he mispredicted when spring would arrive. I think my et is on July. Surely will not go to Palm Sunday church tomorrow in the heavy snow.

Spring Snow....and more snow

The kids have school today, but it really miserable outside. The poor robins do not know where to hide. Our Sunday School class has had a Palm Sunday Brunch for the church for over 20 years...we had to make a decision yesterday before we bought the eggs and fresh fruit....so at 7:00 AM we decided to reschedule the Brunch until April 7th. They are predicting 6" of snow ending some time after noon on Sunday...we are believing the weatherman. We just ad to believe that the snow would keep the older folks from coming and this is one of our main money makers for the local missions we support.
I am sending along a picture of a cocktail that I think looks darling...if I drank...I might like to try this one ...I have always loved peeps(fresh or stale).

Morning Has Broken....

Each morning that I first open my eyes...I gaze at the wonderful painting of our Grandparents farm!
A warm and thankful feeling immediately comes into my heart...a thankfulness for the strength of family, a thankfulness for the foundation of faith and the integrity foundation that was instilled into my very being.  How do some follow that moral compass and others fail to follow that moral compass?
It is a sweet, sadistic pleasure to know that I will always be allowed to vote for my liberal views and those that have not followed those family values will no longer enjoy that pleasure...just saying❤
I had promised myself I would not write about all these feelings, but I know you are a warm and supportive strength for me and this does help my sad process

Today..

Today I shall count my many blessings...above all I know that God is Great and that I know God's Grace!..Besides my husband, my children and my grandchildren, I am blessed with Sister Cousins that are so full of integrity and love. Thank you for being my extra special blessing❤

Last night we had 2 more inches...but now finally this afternoon things are melting. The kids did not have school again today. I think I have slight cabin fever...but, not too bad. It really has been quite different because we have really had a relatively mild winter. Mike and I will get out tomorrow and run errands...then I have lunch planned with the girls on Friday..whoot, whoot!!!
All together we had about 20"...with more in the drifts

It just keeps coming...about 2" a hour! It is beautiful...but, UNCLE!!!!

Everything Closed Down!

By noon tomorrow we are suppose to have another 12"...arghh!!!

More snow a'comin!

Well we were able to go up to St.Jo all day yesterday and watch Paxton at Rookie State...good experience for him. He took 4th and learned so much....wrestling is about getting may experience and learning each time you have an opportunity to wrestle.
We made it to church this morning...streets are clear but snow piles are high at every corner of the church parking lot...some sun today...so hopefully some melts before this next round comes in starting tomorrow....have I mentioned that I am not a snow loving person...Trout season opens next Friday...obviously I 'm not making it to opening day!

Snowbunny Surprise!!!

When Mike gets in from snow blowing again...I have a homemade surprise for him. I baked oatmeal/ raisin cookies....his favorite!!!
I also like them so much....Maybe Mike should put them under lock and key!!!

Neighbors!!!

Yeah....some of younger neighbor men started pitching in to help. Maybe they can get it cleared...but, now more is coming in. They say at least 4 more inches. School has been called off already for tomorrow!

It is now 11:00 and still really snowing...about 10" right now...sure glad we do not have to get out in this. Hoping we all keep our power 😳

Storm of the Century!

Well..it has started. They are calling it the storm of the century for KC...it wouldn't have to be much to top the 1/2" we have had this year. The powers that be must believe the forecasters because they shut down schools and most government buildings last night before a flake fell. Mike and I don't remember that happening ....it could be interesting☺

Great Afternoon!

Just returned from the wrestling tournament and Paxton placed 1st...This is the best he has done this season...he has had several pins and he is enjoying and learning so much!.

Big Day

Yesterday was a really big day...Tanner did his performance as Charles Cornwallis. We also found out that our daughter-in-law is related to Nathan Hale. Hopefully pictures will be along soon. I was sure that I had recorded Tanner's performance with my phone...not!
Today we have Sam because there are teachers meetings today...then they have an extra day off on Monday.
Our oldest grandson...Paxton is continuing with wrestling ..so we will probably go this weekend to watch him...he is just starting to learn this sport.

Final Fitting

We just finished the final fitting and I am p,eased with the results....even more than that...Tanner is pleased....he doesn't care for the itchy wig!

Betty said, "The British Are Coming!" The costume is ready for final fitting tomorrow evening when Tanner comes over after school....Mike worked on the trifold hat while I finished sewing....this has been fun❤

Making a costume

Enjoyed the warmer weekend, but stayed in most of the time. We had Tanner for a little while on Friday...he is the youngest of our three Grandboys . In two weeks he has to be in costume for his Social Studies class...he is to be General Cornwallis...soooo I am trying my best to make him a costume at a reasonable price...we went to some thrift stores and found boots and a red jacket...I have his wig ordered on line...hopefully there will be pictures to post. Tanner got to choose where we were going for dinner...McDonalds...not our favorite...bit the three of us had fun.

Sitting again

I'm sitting with my friend Judy...she is sleeping right now. Got her to eat a little something...but she sure was itchy from medication. I had her husband go get her some benadryle and it let her go to sleep. I made a hug pot of homemade chicken soup yesterday and I will wake her up after a bit and try to get her to eat a little. She is the Visitation Minister for our church and is always the "doer"... It is important to do for her now.

Sitting With a Friend

Spent the majority of day sitting in the waiting room while good friend had surgery. I think everyone scheduled their surgery today.
Watched our awesome President today on live feed on my iPad...it sure made the time going by more enjoyable.

Busy Wednesday

On Wednesdays I work at the Food Pantry sponsored by our church for two hours...probably the most rewarding thing I have been a part of in a long time...It is wonderful experience to get acquainted with the clients and see how for most of them things are getting better.
Then on the third Wednesday we serve a community free meal...which means Mike and I are down at church working from 1:30 until about 8. Our church has been in this little community area for 100 years and like any community it has gone through a lot of economic changes...we have now had this Community Meal for 4 months....it certainly is a heart warming experience...many in the neighborhood are really seeing our church as a warm and inviting haven...this has been a lot of hard work...but many of us believe that this is what we should be about...Thanks for listening to my preaching 😇

Jim's daughter Abby got married on Saturday down in Cabo...hopefully some pictures will be posted on FaceBook. Skip and LouAnn went to the wedding. That's all I know about that!
It has really been cold here...especially since it was in the sixties here on Friday....but, no SNOW...thank goodness. Again, I can post from my IPAD, but have not figured out sharing pictures taken with my phone ...easy to put on FaceBook...but I'm missing some step to share on the blog.

Very Proud

Last night our Grandson Paxton and 17 other teenagers were Confirmed at their church.  It was a beautiful evening to watch these young adults make their choices to become part of the Christian community of believers.  It is so meaningful that Paxton is following in the footsteps of his ancestors.  I know his Great and Great-Great Granparents were looking down from Heaven and rejoicing.  Sure wish I could accomplish showing you pictures I took on my phone...it's just one of those days that I can't hold my mouth right and get it to publish..-:)

Happy Birthday MOM...

December 27th is a day that has always been a day of remembrance and celebration.  I miss her each and every day and always remember to give thanks for her guidance and her strong faith ...she was a tremendous example of one classy lady and I am blessed to have had her for my mother.. Always remember that the 27th is not a day to take down decorations!!!!

An Awesome Day

How I ever got these published tonight...I will never know.  We had a wonderful family time together this morning....first brunch, then packages....such an awesome time.  I hope and pray you all have had a fantastic Christmas.  I also hope the family in Arkansas is not too snowed in...Love you all!

My new phone is not working, so Cindy is coming at 9:00 to take me down to the Apple shop on the Plaza.  I'm glad she is taking me.....I'm feeling so e better with new meds from Dr. Saturday.  Mike is some better....but this has been a week of nasty stuff.  Glad I had all the main things complete.  the kids will all be over for Brunch in the morning and tonight Cindy is having us over for dinner....our church does not do an evening service for Christmas Eve any more....must tell you how old our congregation is any more...

Creeping Crud

Mike, Cindy, Kris and myself have this awful upper-respitory crud.  We are all on heavy antibiotics and trying to get well before Christmas.  I'm happy that our shopping is complete and all wrapped under the tree..It is suppose to snow tonight...so, since I  feel ever such a little bit better than Mike, I went to the store for some basics.  The kids and Cindy have a 1/2 day tomorrow...we'll see.  Thank you to Helen for her RAKS...random acts of kindness...I have really been sad since last Friday.

How do you wrap your heart around this horrific act ...for the love of God...they were making gingerbread houses and talking about  the Gingerbread Boy...something I did every year with my 1st Graders or my Kindergartners...my heart really aches-:(

One Day it works

One day I can post just fine...the next blahhhh!
I worked at the pantry this morning....we had so many we ran out of meat!!!
I hope the Cruz's are alright...not one single new post that I can read today.....it always worries me when I can't read any of their posts...but today...not any one of the three!
Taking the Grandboys out for dinner in just a few minutes...I will try the picture thing again!

Whew!!!

Cindy and her family helped get all the decorations up this weekend.....then we helped decorate the church yesterday.   This morning I'm off to breakfast with my really special support group.  I'm trying to post a picture and write on the blog from my iPad...hopefully this will work -:)

Happy Thanksgiving

Word just came in last evening that after the final money count for our auction that we made our yearly budget, plus $100 over...yippppeee skippppeeee!

We are heading to St.Louis in a couple of hours to spend Thanksgiving with Mike's family...and tomorrow we will see Skip....all should be good!

One More Huge Project

Today I am responsible for a huge auction to raise money for our annual budget for PEO.  PEO is an organization of Women that work to raise   money for scholarships for women to further their education.  We own Cottey College and there are PEO chapters all over the United States.  We also have an outreach program to help women that need a helping hand...we just got a $2800 grant that helped a woman in our community that desperately needed a deck with a ramp built on the front of her home.  She is diabetic and must use a walker and has many volunteers in the community that help her.
I am very proud to be apart of this organization and feel that my heritage leads me to stand up and help Women wherever I am able....Wish me luck...we need to raise $2,000 today...we have accomplished the last 3 years that I have been involved <3 p="p">
